Deteriorating conditions Wednesday night forced Parks Canada to temporarily close Highway 93 north from Lake Louise to Jasper, and the Trans-Canada Highway west from Lake Louise to Golden, which is expected to reopen late today. Local traffic to Lake Louise is being permitted. And outdoor enthusiasts are being told to stay out of the B.C. and Alberta backcountry, where an extreme avalanche danger exists even at the valley floors.
