The death toll on a stretch of the Trans-Canada Highway was so alarming that Banff National Park built a series of overpasses and underpasses to allow animals to cross. “There's been more than 3,000 passes by wolves, nearly a thousand [crossings] by cougars, and 150 by grizzly bears,” Tony Clevenger says. “The [overpasses and underpasses] are being used and they’re being used extensively.”
