Woman faces charges over “writers’ conference”

A woman associated with an aborted writers' festival in Banff is scheduled to appear in an Alberta provincial court Monday to enter a plea and possibly be given a date for a bail hearing. Elisabeth von Hullessem, 49, was arrested late last week in Victoria's affluent Oak Bay district and later charged with seven counts of fraud, two of false pretences and one count of theft. She is in jail in Calgary.
