Bear’s eye view of a year in the Rockies near Jasper November 9, 2003
For the past two years, an eight-year-old female grizzly bear and her cub have been wandering perilously close to oil, gas and forestry developments east of Jasper National Park in the Canadian Rockies. And thanks to a specially modified digital camera attached to the mother bear last summer, scientists have a bear's eye of her and her cub's movements. The camera also provided the Foothills Models Forest Grizzly Bear project new insight into the normally reclusive animal's travels and habits. Related stories: bears Other news for November 2003 |
