Turgeon to miss downhill with injured back

World champion Melanie Turgeon of Canada withdrew from the season's opening women's Alpine World Cup downhill at Lake Louie due to a back injury. No Canadian woman has ever won at Lake Louise, Turgeon posting the best result with fourth place in 2001. Laurie Graham, who won in 1985 at Sunshine Village in Banff, is the only Canadian woman to win a World Cup on home snow.
