Insurance costs hurt adventure tour companies

Skyrocketing insurance costs are threatening the future of adventure tourism in the province, operators say. Rate increases of between 500 and 1,000 per cent are forcing some companies to close down the more high-risk aspects of their business, or not carry insurance at all. And there are fewer companies willing to insure the companies that offer backcountry skiing and mountain climbing.
