Avalanche tragedies lead to valuable changes

If any good could be said to have come from last winter’s tragic avalanche deaths in the Canadian Rockies, then it must be the number of questions raised concerning public safety in avalanche terrain. Three separate reports issued several recommendations toward improving public avalanche education and risk assessment procedures. As a result, Parks and the Canadian Avalanche Association (CAA) have begun implementing changes.
