Woman assaulted hitchhiking home to Saskatchewan in 1980 awarded victim’s compensation January 24, 2004
A psychologically shattered gang-rape victim left unable to work and occasionally eating out of garbage cans has been granted $257,000 by an Alberta government agency. The woman’s lawyer denounced as a farce the $120,000 included in the award from the Criminal Injuries Appeal Board for wages lost over the years since six men raped his client beside a southern Alberta highway in 1980.
