What summer workers should know about employment standards

Young people, students, and temporary workers should know they have rights in the workplace. Alberta’s Employment Standards Code sets out the minimum standards that apply to employees and employers under provincial jurisdiction. Employment Standards includes: minimum wages; payment of earnings; statement of earnings and deductions; hours of work and rest periods; overtime and overtime pay; vacations and vacation pay; general holidays and holiday pay; termination of employment; maternity and parental leave; and, employment of adolescents and young people. Seasonal workers and employers can access this information online.
