The death of a grizzly killed on the Trans-Canada Highway this week underlines the need for better protection for the declining population, conservationists say. The 18-year-old bear, known as Blondie or Bear No. 36, had two young cubs. She died outside of the 70- kilometre-an-hour zone established around Lake Louise, which is intended to make the area safer for the animals.
