Good reasons for making elk feel unwelcome

Most of the residents are wary enough of elk, but tourists are notorious for being unaware that a huge wild animal can be unpredictable and dangerous, whether it is a female with a calf in the spring or a male in the fall rutting season. There are about half a dozen incidents involving actual injury every year.
