Parks Canada has proposed changes to the Trans-Canada Highway twinning project that would shrink the length of roadway to be twinned in the first phase to just 10 km, two kilometers less than had initially been proposed. However, the changes would add another pedestrian overpass at Lake Louise that would mean the end of the seasonal 70 km/h speed limit and extend the wildlife fence 7.5 km past that community to keep animals, particularly grizzlies, off the road.
