Heard patches up skier after wipeout at World Cup

Canadian skier Vincent Lavoie underwent a successful bone graft Sunday to fuse his shattered left tibia. Lavoie, from Longueuil, Que., suffered a boot-level fracture when he wiped out during Sunday’s World Cup giant slalom at Lake Louise. Lavoie, 27, is expected to stay 3-4 days at Banff Mineral Springs Hospital, where the two-hour procedure was performed by Dr. Mark Heard.
