“A little kid from the local ski club came up to me and asked me for my autograph and he said, ‘I think you are going to win tomorrow,’ “ a jubilant Thomas Grandi said from Italy yesterday afternoon. Mr. Grandi handed over his No. 10 bib to the boy following his historic victory in the giant slalom. The win was the first of Grandi’s World Cup career. It was also the first by a Canadian male technical skier.
