Now that the Trans-Canada has re-opened, wardens in Banff are expecting a large number of people to return to the park. But skiers and climbers need to be aware of the snow conditions. In some areas of the park, 60 centimeters of snow fell in a very short time. Avalanche forecasters say the new snow fell on an unstable layer created from last week's cold snap. A number of avalanches have triggered naturally already and there is more snow in the forecast. With warmer temperatures expected, conditions are expected to be very dangerous.
