Feds announce Lake Louise area strategy January 30, 2005
The Honourable Stéphane Dion, Minister of the Environment, today announced important steps being taken by Parks Canada to meet the needs of visitors and the environment in Banff National Park of Canada. The first in the series will address Lake Louise area's unique mix of an annual visitation of 1.5 million and its importance to grizzly bears. These projects, with a total cost of $8 million, include measures to address traffic congestion and wildlife movement, restore grizzly bear habitat while improving the trail system, engage and involve visitors in stewardship initiatives, and provide enhanced educational and strolling opportunities.
