Parks may delay Red Deer burn in deference to caribou

Parks Canada may be forced to temporarily extinguish plans for a prescribed fire in the Red Deer River valley due to concerns for Banff’s threatened woodland caribou. The Bow Valley Naturalists, strong advocates for prescribed fires in the parks, say this burn may be premature given a lack of knowledge on the caribou and their shrinking habitat.
