Sleeping Buffalo gift shop fined for trafficing in bear claws

Gregory Althouse, owner of Banff Avenue gift shop Sleeping Buffalo, pled guilty on behalf of his corporation, 647841 Alberta Ltd., to a single charge for possessing wildlife for the purpose of trafficking. Canadian Wildlife Service officers searched the shop in July 2004 and turned up 24 bear claws contained in a necklace, five bracelets, three rings and a belt buckle.
