Park Canada officials are urging motorists to slow down through Banff National Park, after a grizzly cub was killed by a train earlier this week. The 3.5-year-old cub was with its mother and sibling Tuesday night, about two kilometres west of Castle Junction, when it was hit. Parks Canada says the grizzly family is also known to cross the Trans-Canada Highway around Lake Louise. Seven grizzlies have been killed by either vehicles or trains in the last five years. Wardens say at this time of year, bears begin to move into the valleys because of snow and limited food higher up. The bears are the most active at dawn and dusk. There are an estimated 700 grizzlies in the province.
