Assault victim in Ottawa hospital, no longer in coma

An Ottawa-area woman who was brutally raped, beaten and left for dead in Banff has been flown home where she remains in hospital in serious condition. The 20-year-old woman, who can not be identified because of a court-ordered publication ban, was transported by air ambulance from a Calgary hospital to the Ottawa Hospital’s Civic campus on Friday. The woman's condition improved from critical to serious in the past week, meaning she regained consciousness and was stable.
