The bear that mauled a 40-year-old female hiker Saturday evaded park Wardens who searched for her and her cubs all day Sunday near the attack site around Lake Minnewanka. A massive area of about 60 kilometres around the lake was closed off to hikers while the search for what is believed to be a grizzly took place. The victim’s identity was not released but the Sun quoted sources, who believed she was a resident artist at the Banff Centre.
