Myron ThompsonAlthough he is personally pro-life, candidate Myron Thompson agrees with the Conservative party’s policy to “not support any legislation to regulate abortion.”

Referring to statements in an article in the January 17 edition of the Banff Crag and Canyon that in a meeting in Canmore, Thompson “called for government that would represent ‘good Christian’ values and make it a priority to stop abortion in Canada” (see Digital Banff reference), Thompson says, “Your story isn't accurate. It is based on a misunderstanding of what I said in Canmore on January 11th. I was talking about my longstanding fight to protect children from exploitation, including child pornography, not the pro-life/pro-choice issue.”

Commenting in a January 20 email to Digital Banff, Thompson also said, “While the majority of Canadians are Christians, I do not believe that Canada is or should be a ‘Christian country.’ I’m not even sure what you mean by that. One of the great things about our country is that people from all different faiths and beliefs can live together and respect each other's beliefs.”
