Buffalo-berries are ripening quickly this year at lower elevations in the Bow Valley. In some areas, the berries are a full three weeks ahead of their usual ripening date in late July. Buffalo-berries are a critical food source for bears, and berry bushes often border park trails, roads, and campgrounds. It’s easy to surprise a bear that is focussed on eating berries
