Extending the David Thompson Hwy west through the Rockies to the Trans-Canada Hwy has been proposed on a number of occasions over the years. But the idea appeared dead nine years ago when the federal government prohibited such an extension in the Banff National Park management plan. Then a $35,000 study, commissioned by the Town of Rocky Mountain House and Clearwater and Lacombe counties, resurrected the matter last fall.
