Statistics show the numbers of Canadians who are taking advantage of the country's national parks are rapidly declining. Studies in the U.S. have shown at least three factors contributing to the decline: the aging of the population; a young urban generation glued to electronic devices; and discomfort or disinterest in parks on the part of many members of visible minorities. Surveys conducted for Parks Canada indicate similar factors are at play here.
